In honour of Don Ford

Every dollar raised will be used to support the Master of Health Administration (Community Care) program including a public lecture

Don was instrumental in inspiring and supporting the Master of Health Administration (Community Care) program, as graduates and current students know.

Don studied at McMaster University and began his career at what became Hamilton Health Sciences. He served as CEO for the Central East Community Care Access Centre in Ontario, and hospitals in Nova Scotia and Alberta. He also spent nearly 8 years in senior Government of Alberta positions, including Deputy Minister of Health. After his retirement Don actively contributed as a lecturer and senior fellow at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at University of Toronto and a member of Ryerson University’s Bachelor of Health Administration’s Program Advisory Council.

Don’s ideas shaped the MHA(CC)’s unique orientation and confirmed that the program was needed, especially as governments take steps to enable many who need care to stay in their homes, where they want to be. Don’s insightful lectures and capstone presentation comments, delivered with good humour, were invaluable.

In all of his roles, across healthcare systems and the country, Don distinguished himself as a thoughtful, generous, humble and effective leader.
